Scene #7 맥스와 같이 스케이트 타러 가자는 로리
RORY: Hey, what if we invite Max to go skating with us?
(엄마, 우리 스케이트 타러 갈때 맥스도 부르면 어떨까?)
* 맥스라고 이름을 부르는 로리가 로렐라이는 놀랍습니다.
* What if ~ ?
1) ~ 한다면 어때? (제안)
What if we moved the sofa over here? Would that look better?
2) ~면 어쩌지?, ~어떡하지? (추측, 짐작)
What if the train's late?
RORY: Well the other night he said that I should probably call him something
other than Mr. Medina when we're outside of school.
Which makes sense, so I'm getting used to saying 'Max'.
(음, 요전날 밤에 선생님이 학교 밖에 있을때
매디나 선생님 말고 다른 이름으로 불러달라고 하셨어.
일리도 있고... ’맥스’라고 부르는 거에 익숙해지고 있어.)
* 로리는 엄마가 만난 사람중에 가장 괜찮은거 같다고, 맥스가 좋다고 합니다.

Scene #8 수키와 이야기 하는 로렐라이
LORELAI: Rory is starting to get attached to Max and that's not good.
(로리가 맥스한테 정이 들기 시작했어. 그리구 그건 좋지 않아.)
* 로렐라이는 수키에게 맥스가 자기 짝이 아닌거 같다고 합니다.
갑자기요? 흠..
막상 로리가 맥스에게 맘을 여니 두려운 걸까요?
* be attached to 애착/ 애정을 가지다
He is greatly attached to his children.
I am very attached to that old picture.
LORELAI: Since I've decided that Max is probably not the guy for me,
I think it's better that we break it off before she gets hurt.
(맥스가 내 짝이 아닌거라고 결론 내렸으니까
로리가 상처받기 전에 그만두는게 나을거 같아.)
* 로렐라이는 맥스와 거리를 두기로 결심합니다.
* break ~ off (갑자기) 중단하다, 그만두다
It is not easy to break off a bad habit.

Scene #9 수업 후 로리를 부른 맥스
MAX: I hadn't heard from her for a while about it and…
(한동안 네 엄마한테서 어떤 연락도 없어서.. 그리구…)
RORY: She'll be here.
(여기 오실거예요.)
* 수업후 맥스는 로리에게 머뭇머뭇하며 ‘Parents day’에 로렐라이가 오는지 물어봅니다.
로렐라이는 정말 연락을 안하고 있었네요.
* I hadn’t heard from ~
~에게 연락을 받은적이 없다/ ~의 소식을 듣지 못했다, 소식이 없다
After I hadn't heard from him for several hours, I began to fear.
I hadn't heard from him in two weeks.
로렐라이와 맥스는 이대로 헤어지는 걸까요?
