Scene #12 루크의 전 여친이 궁금한 로렐라이
LORELAI: So tell me more about this Rachel?
(그러니까 이 레이첼에 대해 말해봐.)
SOOKIE: Why are you so curious?
(왜 그렇게 궁금해 해?)
LORELAI:
Well, because apparently everybody in town knows everything about it
and I don’t like to be out of the loop.
(음, 보아하니 이 동네 사람 모두가 루크 연애사를 알고 있고,
나만 모르는 거 싫으니까.)
SOOKIE: It’s old news.
(오래된 얘기야.)
LORELAI: Yes, but I’m fascinated.
I mean, I go to Luke’s once a day, sometimes twice.
(알아, 하지만 나 완전 매혹되었어.
내 말은, 나 루크네 하루에 한번, 어쩔때는 두번도 간다구.)
* out of the loop 잘 모르는, 잘 알지 못하는
She didn't want to be out of the loop.

Tom don't want to feel out of the loop.

He was apparently very surprised at the news.
Apparently the company is losing a lot of money.
SOOKIE: I thought they were going to get married.
(난 그 둘이 결혼할 줄 알았어.)
LORELAI: What happened?
(무슨 일이 있었는데?)
SOOKIE: The rumour is that Stars Hollow was too small for her.
She wanted to live somewhere more exciting.
(소문엔 이 동네가 그녀한테는 너무 작았다나봐.
그녀는 좀 더 신나는 곳에서 살고 싶어했지.)
LORELAI: But Luke didn’t.
(하지만 루크는 아니었고.)
SOOKIE: Mm. You know Luke. He lived here all his life.
He wouldn’t even go away for college.
I think we’re going to bury him in that diner.
(음. 너도 루크 알잖아. 그는 평생을 여기서 살았잖아.
대학에 가려고도 하지 않았구.
우리 그 다이너에 루크를 묻어야 할거 같아.)
LORELAI: Wow. It’s sad.
(와우, 그거 슬프다.)
* 루크 전 여친 레이첼은 포토그래퍼였대요. 그래서 촬영하러 여러 곳을 돌아다녔다고 하죠.
레이첼에게 이 조용하고 조그만 동네는 재미가 없었나봐요.
* ‘Stars Hollow’는 로리 동네 이름이에요.
* The rumor is that/ Rumor has it that 소문에는, ~라는 소문이 있어
The rumor is that Tom was a bad guy.
Rumor has it that her husband has gone.
이제 로렐라이도 다 알게 되었네요.
