오늘은 애덤과 앤디 두 부부의 이야기입니다.
시작할게요.
Scene #1 Fundraiser파티 참석에 대해 이야기 하는 Adam과 Andi
Adam: I hope it’s not contagious,
’cause I really am looking forward to putting on a suit
and talking to a bunch of strangers.
(이 기침이 전염되지 않았음 좋겠는데.
왜냐면 양복 차려입고 생판 모르는 많은 사람들하고 이야기하는걸 고대하고 있었거든.)
* 애덤은 앤디가 주말에 직장에서 있을 모금행사 파티에 대해 말을 꺼내자
가짜로 기침을 하며 말합니다.
* look forward to 고대하다, 기대하며 기다리다
I’m looking forward to seeing you soon.
I’m looking forward to having lunch with you.
* put on 입다, 걸치다, 쓰다, 신다, 메다
It’s freezing outside. Put on your coat.
The little girl put on a cute hat on her head.
Andi: But, seriously, babe, you are off the hook for the party.
Marcy will keep me company.
(그런데 자기야, 진짜로 파티에 안가도 돼.
형님이 같이 있어주실거야.)
* off the hook (힘든 상황, 곤경 등에서) 벗어나다, 빠져나오다
I’ll let you off the hook.
Thank you for getting me off the hook.
Did you agree to get him off the hook for Tom’s injury?
* keep ~ company ~와 같이 있어주다
Can you keep me company during the party?
I kept him company for a while because he doesn’t have anyone to talk to.
Scene#2 질투하는 Adam
Adam: I don’t like Bob guy one bit. First of all, his name’s Bob.
It’s the same backwards as it is forward.
You can’t trust somebody like that.
(나 이 밥이라는 남자 조금도 맘에 안들어. 첫째로 이름이 밥(Bob) 이라는거.
이름을 거꾸로 해도 앞으로 해도 똑같아.
이런 사람들은 믿을 수 없어.)
Don: You mean like mom?
(엄마(mom) 처럼 말야?)
Adam: Exactly.
(바로 그거지.)
* 앤디는 파티에 여자 동료들과 Bob이라는 남자 동료와 있을거라 합니다.
애덤은 질투가 났지만 아닌척 합니다. 앤디가 질투하는걸 싫어하거든요.
결혼 전에 둘이 사귀었을 때 질투를 해서 헤어진 적이 있었어요.
그나저나 둘의 대사에 진심 빵 터졌습니다. 찔려서 그런가…ㅎㅎ

말하자면 이진이, 토마토 같은거네요.
여기서는 이 문장 알아두려구요.
Don: I got an idea. Just don’t be jealous.

Adam: I can’t help it.
I’m sophisticated on the outside, okay?
But on the inside, I’m an animal.

You’re so mean to Amy.

I might seem calm on the outside, but I'm actually really nervous.
Tom was very upset, but tried to appear calm on the outside.
↔ on the inside 속으로는, 속에는
Ben looked so happy, but he was really sad on the inside.
I was really happy on the inside, but I pretend not to.
Scene #3 Andi와 함께 점심 먹는 Marcy
Andi: At first I was proud of him, but then I started thinking,
why is he so fine with it?
(처음엔 애덤이 자랑스러웠어요. 근데 이런 생각이 들기 시작했죠.
왜 괜찮은 거지?)
* 앤디는 남자 동료에 대해 질투를 안하는 남편이 내심 서운합니다.

I hated Amy at first.
I felt nervous at first but I was getting used to it.
Marcy: Here what you do. You tell him that Bob is texting you.
That’ll wake Adam up.
(자 동서가 할일은 이거야. 밥이 동서한테 문자 보낸다고 애덤한테 말해.
그럼 애덤이 정신이 들거야.)
*wake up ~에게 (어떤 문제나 위험 등을) 감지/자각하게 하다, 감지/자각하다
They finally woke up and realized what was happening.
It woke me up and I tried to figure it out.
귀여운 부부네요.
