딘과 로리의 3개월 기념일을 위해
로리는 저녁 식사에 안가도 되는지 할머니께 전화해 달라고 부탁을 했습니다.
그럼 오늘 에피소드 시작할게요.
Scene #4 에밀리에게 전화하는 로렐라이
LORELAI: Um, I was just calling to say hello.
(어.. 그냥 안부 인사하려고 전화했어요.)
* 씨알도 안먹힐거 같지만 일단 로렐라이는 에밀리에게 전화를 해봅니다.
막상 하긴 했는데 어떻게 말을 꺼내야 할지…
* I'm calling to ~ ~하려고 전화했어요
I am calling to congratulate you on your promotion.
I am calling to confirm that you have received page three.
EMILY: Was there anything else that you wanted to add to that hello?
(그 안부에 덧붙이고 싶은 말은 있었니?)
LORELAI: Well, as a matter of fact, there is.
(음.. 사실, 있어요.)

* Is there anything that you want to 하고 싶은 ...가/이 있나요?

EMILY: Since this is a special occasion,
I suppose it would be fine if Rory missed dinner on Friday.
(이건 특별한 상황이니
로리는 금요일 저녁에 빠져도 괜찮을 것 같구나.)
* 아니 이게 뭔일이래요.
이렇게 순순히 허락해 주실 에밀리 여사가 아닌데 말이죠.
아무래도 뭔가 냄새가… 음...
* since ~(하)니까
(너도 나도 그 상황을 안다는 전제하에 쓰는 말이에요.)
Since it was raining she took an umbrella.
Since you’re here, can you give me the papers?
LORELAI: The world is officially coming to an end.
(공식적으로 세상이 망해가나 봐.)
* 로렐라이도 에밀리의 반응이 놀라울 뿐이죠.

Scene #5 학교 사물함 앞
RORY: Let me try first.
Hey, could you two just move this whole thing down to the left a little?
(내가 먼저 해볼게.
저기, 너네 둘, 그 몸뚱이를 왼쪽으로 조금만 움직여 줄래?)
TRISTIN: What?
(뭐라구?)
RORY: You're standing in front of the lockers.
(너네 사물함 앞에 서있잖아.)
* 학교 사물함 앞에서 트리스틴과 한 여학생이 키스를 하고 있습니다.
패리스는 사물함을 열어야 하는데 그 둘 때문에 말도 못하고 서있었죠.
패리스가 그냥 가려고 하니까 로리가 나섭니다.
* first 먼저, 우선
I’ll finish my work first.
Who came first in the room?
* Could you~ ~해줄 수/할 수 있겠니?
Could you come and see me tomorrow?
Could you call a taxi for me?
어쨌든 로리는 할머니한테 허락을 받았으니 가벼운 마음으로 기념일을 맞을 수 있겠네요.
