오늘 에피소드 시작할게요.
Scene #17 수키에게 어제의 일을 말하는 로렐라이
LORELAI: Who wants to hear about my night?
(밤에 있었던 일 듣고 싶은 사람?)
SOOKIE: Oh, me!
(오, 나!)
LORELAI: Well, it started with Rory's baby chick getting loose in the house,
and ended with Rory and I up at one in the morning
looking for Morey and Babette's new kitten,
who we found asleep in the piano.
(자, 집 안에서 로리의 새끼 병아리를 잃어버린 것부터 시작해서
새벽 1시에 로리와 내가 피아노 안에 잠들어 있는
모리와 배벳 아줌마의 새로운 새끼 고양이를 찾는 것으로 끝이 났지.)

It started with a sore throat and became a week of total misery.
It started with a phone call asking to meet him.
end with ~로 끝나다
The meeting ended with dancing.
The show ended with a song.
SOOKIE: What's the matter with your lemon lamp?
(레몬 램프에 무슨 문제 있어?)
LORELAI: Luke killed it.
(루크가 죽였어.)
SOOKI: On purpose?
(일부러?)
* 로렐라이는 병아리 잡다가 루크가 램프 깬 이야기 등 어젯밤에 있었던 일들을 이야기합니다.
* what's the matter with~ ~에 문제 있어?/ 무슨 일 있어?/ 왜 그래?
What's the matter with your eye? It looks red.
What's the matter with your cell phone?

Scene #18 로렐라이의 맘을 묻는 수키
LORELAI: So you're saying Luke thought I made up a crazy story
about a chick being loose in the house just to get him in bed?
(그러니까 네 말은, 내가 그이를 침대로 끌어들이려고
집에서 병아리 잃어버렸다는 정신나간 말을 지어 냈다고 루크가 생각했을 거라고?)
SOOKIE: Not just to get him in bed,
but maybe he thought you wanted to see him
and you didn't know how to say it.
(단지 침대로 끌어들일려고가 아니라,
루크는 너가 자기를 보고 싶은데 어떻게 말해야 할지 몰라서 그런 거라고 생각했을지도 몰라.)
* 같이 병아리 찾을때 루크가 "진짜 병아리 찾으려고 부른 거였어?"라고 말했었거든요.
로렐라이는 그 말의 뜻을 몰랐고 아무튼 그때는 진짜 병아리 찾느라고 정신 없어서 넘어갔어요.
수키가 루크의 생각을 대변해 주었네요.

I made up an excuse about having to look after the kids.
She made up the story to get in.
LORELAI: Because I had just been with him. We were picking out paint samples.
He was on my mind. It was purely a timing thing.
(왜냐면 그랑 계속 같이 있었으니까. 우리 페인트 샘플들 고르고 있었다구.
루크가 내 머릿속에 있었어. 그건 순전히 타이밍 문제였다구.)
* 수키는 도움 청할 때 왜 다른 사람이 아닌 루크에게 전화했는지 물어봅니다.
자기도 있고, 미쉘도 있고, 부를만한 동네 사람들이 많았는데도 말이죠.
수키 참 예리해요. ㅎㅎ

Let's pick out the bad potatoes from the basket.

수키도 눈치챘는데 로렐라이만 본인의 마음을 잘 모르나 봐요.
